Leaks for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Buds+ won’t stop coming. Despite the true wireless earbuds making a public splash in less than a week, we’re still seeing loads of accurate information, the latest being a full specifications sheet and preview of the unreleased iPhone app. Thanks to the specs chart floating around the web, we now have a complete picture of what to expect when the earbuds launch on February 11 in San Francisco, California. In addition, the iOS app for the Galaxy Buds+ released early, providing us with some facts confirmation.
The Specs Sheet Reveals All
The good news is that the updated earbuds will sport much better specifications than its predecessor. We’re looking at battery life that’s nearly double, as well as faster charging and more microphones. To be specific, the increase in battery capacity offers an additional five hours of play time for the earbuds and nine hours more with the charging case. That’s a major upgrade due to the jump from 58mAh to 85mAh for the earbuds and from 252mAh to 270mAh for the case. Samsung even managed to keep the same dimensions. Take a look at this comparison and see how the two models differ in spite of the identical design: Other juicy details include a charging time of only three minutes to gain one hour of play time, multi-device Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, two-way dynamic speakers, two outer microphones, and the introduction of two new colors: blue and red. Last but not least, the price increase we previously reported on has been confirmed. The Galaxy Buds+ will indeed cost $20 more, bringing the retail price to $149.
The iOS App Launches Too Soon
One more interesting piece of information is the early release of the device’s iOS app. While it doesn’t give out as much information as the previously discussed leak, it does confirm a few facts. This proves that there’ll be a separate app for the Galaxy Buds+. The original earbuds used the Galaxy Wearable app to pair with smartphones. This could mean more functionality, such as the Spotify integration which the complete specs chart mentions. More importantly, we can now say with certainty that it’ll be called the Galaxy Buds+ and not the Galaxy Buds 2, which was another codename thrown around in the past. Samsung must be considering this a minor update to last year’s model. We’re less than a week away from its launch and know so much, but Samsung might have more tricks up its sleeve when the earbuds get shown off at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event.
